Teaching

Daniel enjoys teaching the flute, saxophone, clarinet and piano from his home in Welham Green, Hertfordshire. His students range from complete beginners to music college students and other woodwind doublers wishing to improve their flute playing. Daniel has also taught flute on the prestigious British Isles Music Festival for students aged 18-30.

Daniel regularly prepares students for graded music exams (ABRSM, Trinity). He has an 100% pass rate, with most students achieving merit or distinctions. Daniel also accompanies his students up to grade 8 on the piano and can help with Grade V theory exams.

Daniel has a wide range of teaching experience, from teaching 1-1 lessons to young beginners and adults, to taking whole class flute groups of 30+ children. He regularly also works as a musical director for youth theatre productions, something which Daniel finds incredibly rewarding, previously teaching musical theatre at Splitz School of Dance and working for countless youth drama groups on a freelance basis as a musical director.

Both through his peripatetic teaching and working with youth groups, he has enjoyed working with adults and children of varying ages and abilities, helping them to improve their performances and confidence as singers. Many of Daniel’s students have gone on to win places at competitive colleges such as Emil Dale Academy, Guildhall School of Music, Urdang Academy and Arts Educational Schools.
